Bernadette Hawes is the Customer Service Supervisor at Astro-Med Inc in West Warwick, RI - a manufacturing company which is a world leader in the development and manufacturing of data acquisition systems and recording instruments since 1969. She has been employed by Astro-Med for the past eighteen years.
Bernie, as she likes to be known, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree Summa Cum Laude from Southeastern Massachusetts University, and began her career as a Technical Writer.
In her current role as the Customer Service Supervisor at Astro-Med, Bernie serves as the contract manager of all Test and Measurement accounts, performing contract review and ensuring that Astro-Med meets all terms, conditions and quality clauses of each contract. Bernie also serves on the company’s ISO Procedure Team, writing and modifying sales procedures to ensure they accurately reflect Sales processes, and she trains new employees on their ERP software. She was a member of the Customer Service Society of New England from 1991 to 2004.
Bernie possesses a keen attention to detail, and has years of experience in understanding how attention to detail and quality, along with the fostering of good relationships in an active environment, are key factors in attaining goals. Bernie has the ability to understand how a specific procedure will affect all elements of an organization. She believes that streamlined healthcare administration, the electronic sharing of healthcare records among a patient’s medical providers, and better education of healthcare consumers regarding their specific healthcare plan will contribute to a reduction in healthcare costs.
Bernie served on the Rhode Island Community Hospitals Task Force from 2007-2008, and brings a compassionate and far reaching consumer perspective to this board.
