John J. Hynes, Esq. is President and Chief Executive Officer of Care New England, a Rhode Island health care system comprised of Butler, Kent and Women & Infants hospitals, CNE Home Health, its affiliate, HealthTouch, Inc., and the Care New England Wellness Centers.
Mr. Hynes holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from Providence College, a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University, a juris doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School, and is admitted to practice law in the State of Rhode Island.
Following four years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force, he held several administrative positions in hospital management. In 1980, he joined the law firm of Hinckley, Allen, Salisbury, and Parsons, LLP, and became a partner in 1982.
In 1985, Mr. Hynes was named President and CEO of Kent County Memorial Hospital, a 359-bed hospital which provides an array of primary and secondary acute care services as well as rehabilitation and home care, and held that position until 1996 when Care New England was formed and he was named the system’s CEO.
His professional associations include serving as past Trustee and Chairman of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, Trustee of Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council, Vice Chairman of Rhode Island Quality Institute, Trustee of Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Director of Women & Infants Indemnity, Ltd., Director of Toll Gate Indemnity, Ltd., Past President of the Rhode Island Magnetic Resonance Imaging Network, Director of Vector Healthsystems, Trustee of Healthcare Provider Services, Inc., Past President of Health Advantage of RI, Trustee of Kent County Health Services, and an Advisory Board member of The Point Judith Capital Partners. In June 1990, he received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Rotary International Award. He is a member of the Rhode Island and American Bar Associations.
He has been involved in various capacities in a number of community organizations throughout his career.
John and his wife, Irene, have three grown children.
