Mark D. Jacobs MD is a general internist in private practice in Greenville, Rhode Island. He is a graduate of Brown University, Class of ‘72 and received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1975. He completed his medical residency and chief residency at Moffitt Hospital, University of California, San Francisco, in 1979.
Dr. Jacobs became board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1978. He was initially hired by Roger Williams Hospital as Service Chief of its residency program in 1979 with the title of Assistant Professor of Medicine. He twice won Teacher of the Year awards before entering private practice in 1982.
A founding partner of Coastal Medical, Inc., and a 10 year member of its Board of Directors, Dr. Jacobs became President of Coastal in 2001 and additionally became CEO in January of 2005. He also helped create Electronic Health Records of Rhode Island Inc, and serves as its Board Chair. He is on the staff of Miriam Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital and continues his academic career as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, teaching students and medical residents in his office in Greenville. He and his wife live in North Scituate, Rhode Island, and their two children live in Washington, D.C.
